Module 1: How To Draw A Croissant?

In this module, we learnt to present a three-dimensional croissant onto two-dimensional paper. Photocopies and orthographic drawings have been created step by step in order to construct the final axonometric drawing.

Introduction

Step 1

Photo of plan, elevations, and sections of the croissant

The plan view and the two elevations of the croissant have been photographed. The croissant has then been cut into four pieces. Then I photocopied the cut sections .

Step 2

Orthographic drawings of the croissant

Tracing paper has been placed on top of the orthographic photographs of the croissant, I have then traced the outlines of the photographs. I have applied cross-hatching techniques for the plan view with fine liner. Then for the elevations and sections I used different shades of pencils to construct depth and shades of the croissant.

Step 3

Axonometric drawing of the croissant

Reference lines can help to locate the outlines of the croissant. I have created 10 mm X 10 mm grids on top of each sections and plotted the outlines. I have then rotated the plan view clockwise by 45 degrees and traced the outline on a piece of tracing paper. Reference grids have then been created on top of the plan view and outline have been plotted. Then again I used cross-hatching techniques to the axonometric graph.
